New York State Police Homicide Investigator Mac Llewellyn is called to investigate a mass poisoning at the annual food festival, but he's abruptly pulled from the case when Shay Flaherty becomes the suspect. While he tries to help her navigate being investigated and threatened with arrest, his frustration is compounded by a new assignment: a series of attacks that appear to have no objective beyond terrorizing the region. And when that case leads to a personal confrontation, Mac finds an enemy more terrifying than any before.
Meanwhile, Shay's business is shut down and her reputation damaged. Hounded by the news media, police, and health inspectors, she withdraws and regroups. Then, the unthinkable happens when Shay is forced to face the biggest loss of her life and an enemy she doesn't know how to fight.

A BIT ABOUT MAC & SHAY... and me
I can hardly believe there's another launch date coming!
Writing the fourth book in the Mac & Shay series was a slightly different experience as, this time, it's Mac who is faced with a major personal challenge. While he always seems to manage Shay's personal turmoil with pragmatism and sensitivity, he's never before had to apply those abilities to himself - and do they even exist in that form in his skillset?
As I wrote Mac's story, it reminded me how often many of us lose our way when problems strike us directly. Nearly anyone who's raised a child will understand what I mean because the mama-tiger or papa-bear that resides in us is never afraid to rise up. Yet, when we, ourselves, are the target, even those who champion the underdog on a regular basis will sometimes become incapable of defending themselves.
Have you ever experienced being a "target" and found yourself speechless or that you knew exactly what to do but were unable to do it? Hopefully, if it happened to you, it was only a minor annoyance and not the degree of seriousness Mac faces in SEEDS of EVIL.
